    Description

Simple Shogi contains two fast versions of Shogi, an abstract strategy game somewhat like Chess in that each player wants to capture the opponent's king, but all pieces can be promoted and captured pieces can be returned to the game board under the capturer's control. These versions are:

    • Simple Shogi – On a 3x5 board, players start with only four pieces each, along with a gold and a silver general in hand. The game plays like Shogi except that pieces can be promoted only on the furthermost line.
    • Rocket Shogi – On a 5x7 board, players start with eight pieces each instead of twenty. Otherwise, the game plays like normal Shogi.
