    Description

The streets of this broken city are crowded with Boss Man's thugs, corrupt cops and rogue cyborgs. It's time someone took out the trash. City of Fury is a 9 card solitaire homage to classic Beat 'em Ups like Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. Choose your vigilante then patrol the streets, itching for a fight, while scrolling ever rightwards. Can you defeat Boss Man and his criminal sidekicks?

Setup: 5 Street Cards are laid in a row, randomly but with the Boss Card on the right, to form the Screen on which your Vigilante and Enemies will fight. The other 2 Enemy Cards are placed face up on the right Street Cards as your initial Enemies, and your Vigilante is placed on the leftmost Street Card. This initial shuffling is the only random element in the game.

Your Skills Card contains the Actions you can take on your turn. Your Vigilante has 4 Skills (Punch, Kick, Shoot and Dodge), which each have 4 levels of Charge; higher Charged Skills are more powerful. On your turn you activate one of your Skills, performing the Actions of its current level, then reduce that Skill to the lowest Charge Level. Then, you pick two of your Skills and increase their Charge by 1. Actions include movement (which can involve swapping places with adjacent Enemies), melee attacks against adjacent Enemies, shooting attacks against non-adjacent enemies and healing.

It is then the Enemy turn; at any one time there are usually 2 Enemies on the Screen. Each Enemy Card has two unique Behaviour Boxes, showing the Behaviours they will take based on whether they are to the left or right of the Vigilante, so each follows a unique AI and requires different tactics to beat. Some enemies may back up and shoot, others close in and punch, others may prefer to get behind you.

At the end of the turn, once your Vigilante and any Enemies have acted, if an enemy has been killed then the Screen Scrolls Right; the dead enemy card is placed as a new Street card on the right, and the leftmost Street Card is flipped and placed to the right as a new Enemy. To win the game you must defeat the Boss Man.
