    Description

    Hansel and Gretel is a board game set in the forests of medieval Germany during the Great Famine. It's a treasure hunt, the poison ball from Croquet, and a classic fairy tale all in one!

    Backstory
    The Great Famine darkens the souls of Germany's forest inhabitants. Parents once faithful and generous have allowed self-preservation and greed to permeate their lives. Trusting and resourceful, Hansel and Gretel find themselves abandoned in the forest and lured into an evil trap.

    With faith, greed, trust, and evil on full display, who will learn the lessons and consequences told through this classic Grimm Brother's tale?

    Object of the Game
    In Hansel and Gretel, you seek the forest for magical treasures, gain special powers, and guide the story's characters to complete startling events from the story line. The game begins with you hiding treats that provide special powers and treasures used to complete events. It progresses as you cooperatively reenact scenes from the story. You'll guide story character's actions and movements. On every turn you'll have meaningful decisions to make, decisions that impact how other's must react to an evolving plot. You earn points for accomplishing any of the following:

    • Influencing a Character,
    • Gaining a Special Ability, and
    • Completing an Event from the story.

    Goal
    The goal is to have the most points at the end of the game. You accumulate points during the game by finding treats and treasures that give characters special abilities and allow them to complete events from the story. You also earn points during end-game scoring for influencing the tale's four main characters - Hansel, Gretel, Father, and Witch.

    To win, you'll enable the characters essential nature for reenacting a tale filled with conflict and consequence. Understanding the story's plot and devising clever strategies that exploit the character's true nature are key to winning.

    • Will you allow Father to abandon Hansel and Gretel in the Far Forest?
    • Perhaps you'll embrace the role of the Witch and lock Hansel in a cage?
    • Or, you might decide to help Gretel escape the Witch and bring her Gems to Father.

    The unique hide and seek mechanic ensures endless variations and possibilities giving Hansel and Gretel an extremely high replay value. Regardless of the choices made, you'll explore the inner ego of each character while learning anew this classic tale's twists, turns, and consequences. The story of Hansel and Gretel comes to life in fun, suspenseful, and teachable ways.
