Description

Nature is a modular game system that allows you to build and explore a unique ecosystem each time you play. Several people from NorthStar have been working fulltime on the project since 2018, with the team size increasing to 6 fulltime employees by 2023. This is the biggest project NorthStar Game Studio has ever tackled.

Nature is a complete redesign of the Evolution system based on 10 years of experience building ecosystem games. Here are the major goals:

• Modular System
  • Release 5 modules at launch
  • Release of 1-3 modules/year for the next decade
  • Core modules rules can be taught in 1 - 2 minutes
  • Modules are easy to setup and breakdown
  • Build a unique ecosystem with 0-3 modules each game
  • Hundreds of combinations to explore by 2030

  • Less detrimental when you get targeted
  • Lost resources are returned the next round
  • Snowballing has been removed
  • Still highly strategic

• Easy to Teach
  • Fewer traits in the base set
  • Simplier traits but with more synergies

Nature is easy to get to the table. The modular system means Nature can be tailered to any group. Do you want a more aggressive environment? Add the Jurassic module. Do you want a less aggressive environment? Add the Flight module. Are you introducing Nature to family or casual gamers? Don't add any modules and it can be played in 30 - 45 minutes. Each module adds a layer of complexity and 15 - 30 minutes to the gametime. If you want an epic experience with nuanced strategy, add any 3 modules and you'll create a unique ecosystem with suprising synergies to explore.

Theme & Gameplay
Players adapt their species in a dynamic ecosystem where food is scarce, predators lurk, and symbiotic relationships abound. Traits like Claws and Horns will protect your species from Predators, while being Opportunist can open up creative ways to find food. Gather your friends and see who best adapts to the changing world around them.
