DescriptionThis game is an ancestor of Whist, played in England in the 16th and 17th century. The game is a trick taking card game played in partnerships and using a standard deck of cards. 12 cards are dealt to each players and the remaining 4 cards become the stock, the top of which is flipped to determine Trump. The holder of the Ace of Trump "ruffs", taking in the Stock and discarding four cards. Each team scores one point for each trick they have in excess of 6. The game ends when a team reaches 9 points.
