    Description

An antique board game, presumably published between Andrée's first attempt in 1896 and his historic failure in 1897, with the trademark for Luxus Papier Fabrik, Berlin, and a copyright mark, Made in Germany.

A double folding board, approx 23" [58.5cm] square when opened, with a portrait vignette of Andrée, Surcouf, Godard and Strindberg in each corner, each following a route to the pole along numbered places. According to the Instruction sheet, the game should contain :- Plan, 4 balloons, 2 dice, and a number of counters. Box cover is with a portrait vignette of Andrée and an unfortunately chosen picture of three men in a balloon amongst an iceberg laden sea, the drag lines lying in the water.
