Shuhari
DescriptionShuhari is a trick-taking game about mastering traditional Japanese arts, such as ikebana, the koto, and calligraphy. The cards in the game each show 3 of 5 different suits, in an angularly radial pattern, so that each card has an outer suit, middle suit, and inner suit. Each person will play 3 or 4 cards to each trick, one at a time in turn order, depending upon the player count. Each trick also has up to three stages. In the first stage, players are following the "outer suit" of the lead card. However, if someone is able to following unconventionally, the trick proceeds to the next stage and players are now trying to follow the lead suit, but with the middle suit on their card. In the last stage of a trick, players follow the outer suit of the initial lead card with the inner suit of their card. Once the card play is completed, each stage of a trick will have a winner and that winner will notate having mastered the art corresponding to the lead suit. During the game, points are awarded for mastering the different arts in the different stages. Once the players have collectively fully mastered two arts, the game ends and the player with the most points wins. Game DiscussionsAdd CommentYou need to be logged in to comment.
