DescriptionThis game was designed with the mechanics of chess in mind. This can be seen in the seven-crest structure; where the player represents the king, and the seven crests represent the other pieces. It can be seen in the Warrior advantage positions; these positions mimic how chess pieces move. And it can be seen in the need to gain eight tokens to win, where the tokens represent the eight square length of the board. This game has five different character types: Monarchs, Bastions, Clerics, Huntsman, and Scouts. The Seven Crest Structure forces the players to only be able set 1 Monarch, 2 Bastions, 2 Clerics, and 2 Huntsman face-up to empty positions on their field. When playing these character types, Monarchs are played in a player’s back row, disrupting and pressuring the opponent from afar, Warriors (the term comprising Bastions, Clerics, and Huntsman) are played in a players front row to battle the opponents Warriors, and the Scouts are played in the opponents front row causing light disruptions to the opponent. To add another layer of complexity, there are three types of Tactic cards. Each type is played at different phases of the game and give bonuses according to their type. Offensive Tactics are played during a player’s Set phase and give offensive bonuses, Defensive Tactics are played during a players Defense phase and give defensive bonuses, and Assistive Tactics are played during both the Set and Defense phase and give general bonuses.
