At the start of the round, deal the specified number of cards to each player and you are ready to go. The deck consists of a total of 40 cards, five colors with numbers 1-8. The "face cards" numbered 1, 2, 5, and 8 of each color have portraits of military commanders on them.

The flow of the game follows that of basic trick taking.
Each player plays a card, starting with the lead player. If you have a card in hand that matches the suit of the lead player's card you must play it. After all cards have been played, the "highest" strength card determines who wins the trick.
What determines "highest" strength can change based on how many face cards were played (0 or an even number, the card with the higher number is stronger. Odd number, the card with the lower number is stronger). Place any face cards you win in front of you so that you can see the number.

Do this until you run out of cards in your hand, then calculate your score. The cards you have won are grouped by number, and for each number, if you collect an odd amount of cards, you will get a total of 1 point , and if you collect an even amount of cards, you will get 0 points.
Example: You collected three 2s=1 point and two 8s = 0 points.
After calculating the score, if someone's total score meets or exceeds 5 points, the game ends.
